About
Thank you for visiting my site! I am a postdoctoral researcher in sociology and gender studies at the Humboldt University of Berlin. My work centers on migration and border politics; citizenship and social inequalities; and sexuality and sexual politics with a specific focus on East-West mobilities, Europe, and the Middle East. Through this work, I engage core questions of identity, belonging, and participation, as well as broader debates on democracy, liberalism, and far-right politics.
My research has been supported by the German Academic Exchange Service, the German Center for Integration and Immigration Research, and the Heinrich Böll Foundation, among others. I have held visiting positions at King’s College London, Yale University, and UC Berkeley. My work has been published in Sexualities, Ethnic and Racial Studies, Ethnic and Migration Studies, The European Journal of Politics and Gender, and The European Journal of Women’s Studies.
I graduated from Koç University in 2014 with degrees in Law and International Relations, and later earned my master’s degree from Boğaziçi University in 2019. I earned my PhD in August 2024 from the Humboldt University of Berlin.
I serve as the co-chair of the Gender and Sexuality Research Network at the Council for European Studies.
I am the recipient of the 2025 Best Article Award for the European Journal of Politics and Gender Bristol University Press and Policy Press: https://bristoluniversitypress.co.uk/journals/european-journal-of-politics-and-gender/award
